VTV.vn - The People’s Committee of Hanoi has presented the “for the cause of capital city construction” insignia to Katsuro Nagai, Japanese Deputy Ambassador in Vietnam, in recognition of his contributions to the growth of Hanoi and the development of ties between Vietnam and Japan.

Nagai served as Minister at the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam from August, 2014. In February, 2018, he became Deputy Ambassador at the embassy.

He has worked to enhance cooperation between Hanoi and Japanese localities, and connected leaders of the city and senior officials from Japan’s Government and socio-economic organisations.

With the assistance of Nagai and the ambassador of Japan, many projects funded by Japan have been implemented in Hanoi, including line 2 of the Hanoi urban railway, Nam Son waste-to-power plant in Soc Son, Yen Xa water work and north Hanoi smart urban area.

Speaking at a ceremony to present the insignia on September 13, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said Katsuro Nagai has helped expand the friendship between people of Vietnam and Japan, introducing the Japanese culture and art to Vietnam, especially through the Vietnam-Japan Culture Festival and cherry blossom flower festival in Hanoi.

The diplomat’s efforts have contributed to strengthening the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership and Hanoi-Japan relations in particular, making Japan one of the top partners of Hanoi, he added.

For his part, Katsuro Nagai said he will continue to work hard to connect the people between the two countries and call on Japanese firms to invest in Hanoi.

Expressing his delight to receive the insignia, the diplomat said it is a precious reward.

He also thanked the People’s Committee of Hanoi for supporting him and the Japanese Embassy during their operations.
