Tuoi Tre newspaper reports that information from the office revealed that 20 Japanese book publishers and nine Vietnamese publishing houses have registered to join the event.
Le Hoang, vice chairman of the Vietnam Publishers Association and head of the HCMC representative office, said the mini book fair will focus on exchanges on copyright issues among participating publishers.
If the event is successful, the association will organize more such book fairs for book publishers from other countries.
Japanese publishers said they hope the fair will offer them opportunities to trade and exchange book copyrights with Vietnamese counterparts.
The Vietnam Publishers Association also calls for Vietnamese participants to register the content and genres of books they want to buy copyrights so that Japanese publishers can meet their demand.
To date, Vietnamese publishers have registered to buy copyrights of various books from Japanese publishers including comic books and manga, books on education, culture, and books for children and parents.
