The call covered ways in which Japan and Vietnam could work to advance the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe agreed to push for the early signing of the agreement by all members. The two prime ministers also talked about ways to further promote co-operation between the two countries to deepen the Japan-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership.
The specific fields that were mentioned most were high-level exchanges, security and defence co-operation and activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year.
