VTV.vn - Qualifier Ons Jabeur became the first Tunisian player to reach a WTA final when she beat fifth seed Anastasija Sevastova 6-3 3-6 6-3 at the Kremlin Cup on Friday.

 

She had already become the first Tunisian to reach a semi-final and continued her impressive form against the Latvian to set up a final against Russian Daria Kasatkina.

* McLaren have ruled out a full entry in the 2019 IndyCar series but are still considering competing at the Indianapolis 500, the Formula One team's boss Zak Brown said on Friday. Brown told reporters at the US Grand Prix that Indianapolis remained of interest and a decision would be taken once the Formula One season had ended.

* Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui is convinced his stuttering, goal-shy team can turn things around and have a season to remember as he prepares for a vital La Liga game at home to Levante on Saturday. Real are fourth in the standings after eight games and only two points behind surprise leaders Sevilla but Lopetegui is feeling the heat after four games without a win in all competitions in which his side have failed to score, their longest run without a goal since 1985.

* A proposal aimed at reducing the financial gulf between the continent's richest clubs and the rest was put forward by the European Leagues group on Friday. It is calling for revenue to be more equally distributed between the Champions League and Europa League competitions and to overturn recently-implemented changes which rewards clubs financially for their historical record.

* Barcelona have no plans to re-sign Neymar from Paris St Germain, the club's vice-president Jordi Cardoner said on Friday, knocking down media reports the La Liga champions were ready to tempt the Brazilian forward back to the Nou Camp.

* The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) warned Tokyo 2020 organisers on Friday that more accessible hotels and transport options must be found ahead of the showpiece event. IPC CEO Xavier Gonzalez was critical of the number of hotel rooms that are wheelchair accessible and does not believe there will be enough suitable rooms by the time some teams arrive for pre-Paralympic camps.

* Wimbledon will introduce a final set tiebreak starting from next year's Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), organisers said on Friday. After a period of consultation with players and officials, the AELTC ruled that the tiebreak will be played when the score reaches 12-12 in the final set of all matches at the tournament.

* Lyon bounced back from their five-goal loss before the international break to get past promoted sides Nimes 2-0 in the 10th round match of Ligue 1 on Friday.

* Luka Jovic's five goals helped Eintracht Frankfurt ease 7-1 past hapless Fortuna Dusseldorf at the opener of the 8th round in Bundesliga on Friday. The "Eagles" showed no mercy with newly promoted Dusseldorf as three first-half and four second-half goals ensured their third consecutive victory in the league.

* Third-tier clubs Meiilla and Cultural Leonesa were the big winners when the draw for the round of 32 in the Spanish Copa del Rey knockout tournament was announced on Friday. Cultural Leonesa will face Cup holders FC Barcelona, while Melilla take on Real Madrid on a home and away basis with the two legs due to be played between October 30-November 1 and December 4-6.
