Imbalanced sex ratios at birth in Vietnam

VTV.vn - According to a report by the General Department of Population and Family Planning, an imbalance in sex ratio at birth in Vietnam is increasing at a faster rate.

Sex imbalance at birth in Vietnam increased from 106 boys per 100 girls in 2000 to 112 boys per 100 girls in 2014, and 113 boys per 100 girls in 2016, with the imbalance continuing to increase. By 2050, according to various estimates, some 2.3 to 4.3 million men may not be able to find partners.

Vietnam has implemented campaigns to raise awareness and change public attitudes, and has also boosted education on gender equality in schools and society.
