Hung Yen: Great solidarity houses support poor

VTV.vn - In recent years, Hung Yen Province has paid attention to effectively implementing the movement “For the poor – Leaving no one behind”.

Through the Fatherland Front at all levels, Hung Yen Province has mobilised agencies, organisations, units, businesses, religious dignitaries, and overseas Vietnamese inside and outside the province to support and contribute hundreds of billions of VND to help thousands of poor households build new houses.

In a house of more than 40 square meters, Nguyen Van Huynh, in Cu Dinh Village, Viet Hung Commune, Van Lam District, happily confided: "Both my wife and I are over 70 years old, no longer have the strength to do economic work, so we have to live in a dilapidated house. The Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front of Viet Hung Commune and relatives supported money, helping my family build a spacious house to protect from the sun and rain.

Vice-Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Viet Hung Commune Tran Duy Tien, said that implementing the policies of the Party, the State and Hung Yen Province on building and repairing houses for poor households and households in difficult circumstances, Viet Hung Commune has deployed many solutions to support poor households in building and repairing homes. The commune has received the consensus and support of the community, attracting the support of relatives, neighbours, villages and many social organisations and businesses.

From the capital provided by the province and district, Viet Hung Commune has supported 16 poor households to build new houses, with a support level of 80 million VND per house; supported two poor households to repair houses, with a support level of 40 million VND per house. Therefore, Viet Hung Commune has eliminated dilapidated houses, helping poor households improve their quality of life, and ensuring social security.

According to the Chairman of the Fatherland Front of Van Lam District To Ngoc Chuan, Van Lam District has mobilised the entire political system, businesses, and philanthropists to contribute to support poor households and households in difficult circumstances to improve their lives.

In addition to the capital allocated by Hung Yen Province of 9.6 billion VND to support the construction and repair of 140 solidarity houses; The Fatherland Front of the district has advised the District Party Committee and the People's Committee of Van Lam District to mobilise and call on businesses in the district to join hands to support poor households in building and repairing houses. Businesses have contributed 3.6 billion VND to build 60 houses for poor households.

Many businesses have made large contributions such as Enterprises belonging to Hoa Phat Group, VAP Limited Liability Company, and Chinh Dai Steel Company.

In addition, socio-political organisations in the district and philanthropists have contributed more than 1.5 billion VND to support the construction and repair of 20 houses.

The district's Fund for the Poor gave gifts to poor and disadvantaged households with a total amount of nearly 1 billion VND; local people gave gifts on the occasion of Tet to poor households in the district, with a total amount of more than 3 billion VND.

Implementing the policy of the Standing Committee of Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee on socialising resources, supporting housing construction for poor households and households of victims of Agent Orange-dioxin in the province, and promoting the tradition of mutual assistance.

The Standing Committee of the Fatherland Front Committee of Hung Yen Province has consulted with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee on solutions to mobilise resources to support the poor; and successfully organised two programmes: "Joining hands to build houses for people with meritorious services and poor households in the whole province" and "Joining hands to support poor households and households of victims of Agent Orange with housing" that have become highlights in the activities of the Fatherland Front at all levels of Hung Yen Province, term 2019-2024.

Through campaigns, the Provincial Fatherland Front has received 142 billion VND in support from agencies, organisations, units, businesses, religious dignitaries, and people inside and outside the province.

From the mobilised sources, along with the state budget, the Fatherland Front at all levels in Hung Yen Province has advised and supported 2,358 people with meritorious services, households of Agent Orange victims and poor households, eligible for support to build and repair houses, with a total support amount of more than 173 billion VND.

This result has contributed to the Party Committee and authorities at all levels in Hung Yen Province to effectively implement social security work, reduce the poverty rate to 0.86% in 2023, and eliminate dilapidated houses in the province.
