The conference found that majority of visitors who come to Thua Thien Hue province choose the Hue Imperial Citadel relic site and that the development of cultural and heritage tourism products in this site has been prominent.
Experts say that while the destination is a strong point, the products introduced to visitors here are still lacking in diversity and creativity. Last year, the province welcomed 3.8 million tourists, about half of whom were foreign visitors. Visitors spent an average 47 USD per night and stayed an average of 1.8 nights. These figures from Hue are considered low when compared to other destinations.
The conference noted areas that need improvement such as services on the Huong river and night tourism, making the need to create unique new products to attract visitors to stay longer a pressing issue. The city looks to develop a stronger brand, including creating slogans such as "Hue - 1 destination - 5 world heritage sites"; "Hue - an ASEAN cultural city" and "Hue - a National Green city" .
