Hue’s paper lanterns, folk paintings revived with modern lamps
VTV.vn - A lecturer from the College of Arts at Hue University launched a new kind of lamp based on Hue’s traditional art, which is reviving their value.

Traditional lanterns with new designs and decorations, created by Nguyễn Thị Thanh Trà, a lecturer at Hue University. The lamps feature folk paintings from Sình Village, Thừa Thiên Huế Province, which was a famous name in folk painting in the past. The lamp collection is highly appreciated thanks to its uniqueness and practicality.

"Printing Sình village paintings on home appliances is a way to preserve this traditional art form, which is being forgotten. These products also have high economic value." - Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, Lecturer, Applied Arts Department, College of Arts, Hue University.

These folded paper lamps originate from Huế’s traditional paper lantern. In addition to Sình Village paintings, the lamps are now also decorated with folk paintings from other regions, including Đồng Hồ or Hàng Trống drawings, and even famous masterpieces by Vietnamese and foreign painters. The combination between meticulous folds and classic drawings has significantly enhanced the artistic value of traditional folded paper lamps/lanterns?, and have lured many tourists.
