VTV.vn - Taking place annually on October 31, Halloween is a centuries-old celebration that blends ancient folklore with playful festivity.

Though rooted in ancient Celtic traditions, countries across the globe have reimagined it in their own way by infusing local culture, seasonal charm and a playful dose of spookiness. With 51%* Vietnamese travellers saying that experiencing a different culture and 49%* wanting to have a variety of activities matter most when imagining their next trip, Booking.com has curated a list of some of the spirited Halloween getaways, inviting travellers to discover how the season comes to life in unique and unforgettable ways across Asia.

Da Lat, Vietnam

October marks one of the most pleasant times of the year in Da Lat, when cool air and drifting mists wrap the town in an otherworldly calm. Around Halloween, this mountain retreat becomes an especially fitting destination, not only for its atmosphere but also for ghost stories whispering about certain places. Among them is the old French villa on Prenn Pass, once home to a French general before being abandoned and now restored, which still welcomes curious visitors during the dat. It only welcomes guests during the day, its quiet halls lined with Buddha altars, yet its lingering mystery still attracts those drawn to the unknown. Adding to Da Lat’s surreal charm is "Crazy House”, also known as Hang Nga Guesthouse - a labyrinth of twisting staircases and dreamlike corridors that blurs the line between architecture and imagination.

Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, Halloween feels like a city-wide carnival where neon nights, creative costumes and a playful, unique blend of East and West turn the streets into a living spectacle. From September 13 to October 31, ‘Disney Halloween Time’ makes its festive comeback to Hong Kong Disneyland, enchanting families with spooky parades and Disney characters encounters, while Lan Kwai Fong erupts into a full-blown street party of music and masks. Shopping districts like Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui come alive with pop-up haunted houses, themed events and street performances. Families can enjoy a more playful celebration at Ocean Park, where the park transforms into a haunted adventure with scary zones, rides and Halloween-themed shows. Alternatively, the Big Bus Tour offers a scenic ride around the city, letting travelers hop on and off while soaking in the lively Halloween atmosphere across Hong Kong’s streets.

Singapore

For Vietnamese travelers seeking a thrilling yet accessible Halloween getaway, Singapore is the ideal choice just a short flight away, even without centuries-old ghost tales. Every October, this modern metropolis transforms into one of Asia’s most thrilling Halloween hubs. The highlight is Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore, a signature event running through early November, drawing travellers with its themed haunted houses, larger-than-life sets and immersive scare zones.

For a different kind of thrill, travellers can head to the Night Safari to experience a thrilling adventure at the world’s first nocturnal zoo. Beyond that, Clarke Quay turns into a riverside party scene filled with costume parades, themed dining, and street performances, while Sentosa Island hosts vibrant beachside Halloween events.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

In Kuala Lumpur, Nights of Fright at Sunway Lagoon has become a wild carnival of screams, lights and live performances where horror fans test their limits amid cinematic sets and mischievous street acts. With 63%* of Vietnamese travellers saying they’re motivated to travel to spend time together as a family, LEGOLAND’s Brick-or-Treat Monster Party offers the perfect escape for this Halloween season. The entire park will transform into a playful monster wonderland, filled with creative workshops and stage shows that bring laughter to both kids and parents.

And just a short drive away, the cool mist of Genting Highlands hides a darker secret. Its Haunted Highlands experience draws inspiration from local ghost folklore, inviting travellers to wander through lantern-lit alleys and haunted halls where Malaysian legends come alive.

Tokyo, Japan

In Japan, Halloween is less about scares and more about spectacle. Throughout October, thousands of locals and visitors join spontaneous parades in full costume, from anime characters to classic horror icons, turning the city into a vibrant Halloween parade, especially in Shibuya and Harajuku.  Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea stage their much-loved Halloween festivals themed parades and character shows, while Sanrio Puroland offers a sweeter spin through Hello Kitty-themed Halloween performances and treats. Those looking to escape the city bustle can take a day trip to Moomin Valley Park, where travellers step into storybook scenes, explore Moominhouse and the Lighthouse, and enjoy the tranquil lakeside views.
