After successfully exporting the first consignment of 20 tonnes of fresh sugarcane to the US in March this year, the province’s agricultural sector has actively worked to seek inroads into the international market for local agricultural products.
Sugarcane grown in Hoa Binh has been well-known in the domestic market. The crop grows well in the province thanks to favourable soil and weather conditions and has high economic value.
The two export batches were the result of months of negotiations between a Vietnamese company and a US partner. The company expects to ship between 300 and 500 tonnes of fresh sugarcane to several countries this year. To date, the company has shipped 300 tonnes of fresh sugarcane.
