At the beginning of the meeting, delegates held a moment of silence to pay tribute to the compatriots, comrades and soldiers who have died from COVID-19.
At the meeting, the delegates discussed, exchanged and approved on key contents related to the socio-economic-cultural-social situation; the budget in the first nine months of the year; objectives, tasks and key solutions in the remaining three months of 2021; a report on Party building, government building, mass mobilisation work in the first nine months of the year as well as key tasks and solutions for the last three months of 2021; the city's medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period; and the 10-year summary of the implementation of the Action Programme No.29-CTrHD/TU (dated December 21, 2012) of the municipal Party Committee’s Standing Committee on the implementation of Resolution No.9 - NQ/TW (dated December 9, 2011) of the Politburo, 11th tenure, on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese businessmen in the period of accelerating industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.
Over the past nine months, Ho Chi Minh City has made efforts and proactively implemented many synchronous and drastic solutions to control the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as urgently traced and handled cases in the community; applied social distancing in accordance with the epidemic level in each locality and area.
The city has creatively and proactively issued a directive on tightening and strengthening measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic in Ho Chi Minh City and successfully implement the socio-economic development plan in 2021.
The city has also devised solutions to ensure social security, national defence - security, social order and safety, especially during the 13th National Party Congress; and successful organised the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure.
In his speech, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said the meeting took place in the context that the epidemic situation in the city has been gradually put under control,after 14 days of implementing Directive No.18 of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on continuing to control and adjust measures on COVID-19 prevention and control as well as socio-economic recovery and development in the city.
The meeting was considered an opportunity for the city to look back and evaluate the results after one year of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Municipal Party Congress in the context of the profound, direct and comprehensive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, he added.
