VTV.vn - The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council elected three officials to serve as new vice chairmen of the municipal People’s Committee at its fifth meeting, which opened on November 14.

The new vice chairs are Hoang Nguyen Dinh, Nguyen Cong Vinh, and Tran Van Bay.

Dinh, 45, previously served as director of the former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province’s Department of Transport, while Bay, 54, was the city’s chief inspector. Vinh, 53, served as vice chairman of the People’s Committee of the former Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province before the province was merged into Ho Chi Minh City.

The latest election raises the number of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee vice chairs to nine.

In its fifth sitting, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council is also set to make important decisions covering a wide range of issues, including social security, education, healthcare, the environment, administrative procedures, public investment, and urban development.

According to Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, the city has recorded positive results in recent times, but is still facing numerous unresolved issues such as bottlenecks in transport and urban infrastructure and the disproportionate mobilisation of social resources.

Furthermore, inconsistent policies among localities prior to the merger needs to be replaced with new policies to ensure consistent implementation throughout the city.
