Ho Chi Minh City honours Vietnamese heroic mothers posthumously
VTV.vn - The Ho Chi Minh City authorities held a ceremony on August 2 to posthumously award the “Vietnamese Heroic Mother” title to five deceased women.

Those honoured are Dang Thi Lua, Phan Thi Hue, Pham Thi Thach, Nguyen Thi Huong and Nguyen Thi Muong.

The organisers also posthumously awarded the “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title to Phan Van Han, a Saigon-Gia Dinh Party Committee member for his outstanding service during the American war.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen affirmed that the Party, State and people always remember the enormous contributions of heroes, martyrs and heroic mothers to the nation.

He added that awarding these honours expresses the country and people’s gratitude for their great sacrifices.

Ho Chi Minh City is home to 5,471 Heroic Mothers, of whom only 108 are alive and being taken care of by the local Party, government and people.
