VTV.vn - Representatives from the Departments of Transport of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City joined other delegates representing authorities, and transport and digital development sectors from 28 cities around the world in the third International Transport Conference in Moscow on August 22 – 23.

Attracting over 100 participants from populous cities in the world such as Beijing and Chengdu (China), Dubai (the United Arab Emirates), Sao Paulo (Brazil), and Antalya (Turkey), the event offers a venue for researchers, policymakers, and managers in the transportation sector to share experiences and data, and to analyse metrics on the effectiveness of public transportation systems in major cities.

Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor and Director of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of Moscow, stated that the interest of many densely populated cities in Asia in the conference will support efforts in finding solutions to transportation challenges. He pledged that Moscow is ready to share its experience in developing high-tech urban transportation, including the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City Tran Quang Lam, Moscow is interested in learning from Ho Chi Minh City’s experience in developing waterway transport, while Ho Chi Minh City seeks to learn from experience of Moscow and other cities regarding green transport, public transport and sustainable transportation development, particularly in applying digital technology in managing and operating transport systems, and reducing emissions in transport.

Dr. Vu Hong Truong - General Director of Hanoi Railway Co. Ltd - said the urban transport system in Moscow has fundamentally changed, leaving a significant impression on visitors to the Russian capital.

This transformation serves as an inspiration for other cities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, he said, adding that Moscow's experience is very valuable.

At the event, international delegates shared experiences of their cities, introduced and analysed the UrbanTransportData project, and presented specialised topics on traffic security and organisation, ecology and health, and integration of urban railway transport systems.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Transport Tran Huu Bao and representatives of eight other cities signed a joint statement with Liksutov on participating in the UrbanTransportData project, which is an international analytical platform for the benefit of citizens to collect, analyse, visualise, and publish traffic indicators of cities around the world.
