Heavy rain causes losses in Ha Giang

VTV.vn - Torrential rains and tornadoes whirlwind caused huge losses of assets and crops in Mèo Vạc District, Hà Giang Province, in the evening of May 26th.

In a short period of time, the precipitaton exceeded 100 milimetres, it is 171 milimetres in Bắc Quang District, and 102 milimetres in Tĩnh Túc District, Cao Bằng Province.

Heavy rain will continue in the northern region, and last until May 29th. The precipitation can reach 200 milimetres in the provinces of Lạng Sơn, Cao Bằng, Hà Giang, Tuyên Quang, Lào Cai, Yên Bái, and Lai Châu. Flood and landslide warnings have been announced for Thanh Hóa and Hà Tĩnh provinces.

The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control asked local authorities to make preparations for the unfavourable weather. Vietnam Television and other media companies will provide updates on the situation as well as guidelines for responses.
