Health insurance patients get wider choice

Starting this year, those with health insurance can go to different commune and district hospitals in a province. After 3 weeks of implementation, the new regulation has made things easier for patients.

"We’re trying to promote information exchanges between hospitals so those with health insurance can’t defraud the scheme" - Pham Luong Son, Head of Health Insurance Policy Committee, Vietnam Social Security.

The new regulation allows wider choice of treatment facilities for patients, while saving time and in theory should see health facilities improve their services.
