Amid the rising trend of COVID-19 cases in Vietnam recently, the Ministry of Health has sent a request to health facilities across the country to focus on receiving and treating COVID-19 patients to detect and handle severe cases in a timely manner, thereby minimising the risks of fatality.
For this task, the ministry has also asked provincial-level health departments, hospitals directly managed by the ministry, and heads of health units across agencies to assess and urgently deploy solutions.
These include allocating a specific number of beds for COVID-19 patients in each unit, arranging for personnel to monitor and care for these patients, and preparing medicine and equipment in case of complicated developments, along with prioritising consultation with higher-level health facilities to limit patient transfer.
