Following the instructions of the People's Committee of Hanoi, all non-essential services such as street eateries and sidewalk iced tea and coffee shops have been barred from midnight February 16 to prevent the spread of COVID 19 in the community.

Many streets in the capital city are deserted and shops are now closed. Some restaurants are still open, but they have posted signs saying they are offering only takeaway.

Some stores have also temporarily closed. According to directive 03 of the city, restaurants are only allowed to open when customers can maintain a 2m distance and have barriers to separate customers. Many large pagodas have also obeyed the request to temporarily close to avoid crowds and to prevent the risk of spreading COVID -19 in the community.
