Faced with the complicated situation of the epidemic, Hanoi will tighten control over passengers flying between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Incoming passengers from HCMC account for about 30% of the total number of passengers traveling to Noi Bai airport recently.
In addition to assigning separate routes and quick COVID-19 tests for incoming and outgoing passengers, others who test negative for COVID-19 must still self-isolate at home for 7 days. The maximum number of passengers allowed on each flight is limited to 1,700 seats/day.
Before the restriction on the number of passengers travelling each day on the Hanoi - HCM City route was imposed, more than 3,100 passengers departed for or arrived from HCM City at Noi Bai Airport each day.
The figure dropped to 960 on July 9, when the restriction began to take effect.
According to the CAAV rules, staff members of airports, especially Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City, and Vietnamese airlines operating flights to/from HCM City must receive at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine or have a negative coronavirus test result within 72 hours.
After two vaccination phases in June and July, 100 percent of frontline personnel and most of other employees at Noi Bai Airport have got the first shot of vaccine.
