He stated that the solutions offered by Finnish companies are useful and suitable for the amount of waste in Hanoi, with around 8,000 tonnes of garbage needing to be handled every day.
Hung hailed the on-site waste classification before collection as a big challenge to the capital city at the moment.
Hanoi welcomes businesses with investment projects in the field of converting organic waste into biogas, the official said, adding that the city wishes and is willing to introduce the ground location for Finnish companies to construct their waste treatment lines.
He also pledged to provide the best support in terms of procedures, transport connectivity and land clearance so that Finnish firms could rapidly and effectively implement their projects.
For his part, Finnish Ambassador Kari Kahiluoto affirmed Finland’s willingness to share its experience with Hanoi in urban waste treatment.
He also wished for more details from the Hanoi side concerning the city’s current solid waste treatment management process, as well as the contributions that could be supported by Finnish businesses in the field.
At the meeting, Finnish businesses recommended the best and most efficient waste treatment models and technologies that could be applied to Hanoi. Companies have their own strength in the waste treatment technology, such as converting waste into power, biogas and safe organic sludge for agricultural fields and ultimately joining together to produce the most optimal master plan for waste treatment.
