Viettel are inspired to collect their first domestic title since returning to the top flight of V.League 1 last season, while Hanoi FC are determined to defend their consecutive championship title.
The derby will take place at Hang Day Stadium – the home ground of both teams. For so long, the National Cup finals have not seen any encounters between two teams from the same city. Although Hanoi have dominated in the head-to-head record against their local rivals in the last two seasons (they have not lost to Viettel yet), but in a knockout and also a final game, any surprise can happen.
V.League champions Hanoi are showing a strong form with impressive performance after a slightly skewed start-up period at the beginning of the season. Meanwhile, Viettel are currently in very stable form in the V.League, standing second in the table.
Therefore, the encounter between both teams in a final game will be very much awaited, as they both own a large fan base, along with having many national stars in their squad. They are also too familiar with each other's tactics so there may be no need for either to slow the speed right from the beginning of the upcoming final.
Not only that, the desire of both clubs to win the trophy promises an extremely impressive football party for fans in this year’s National Cup final.
