VTV.vn - Hanoi is using virtual tours, augmented reality and digital learning tools to make its cultural heritage more accessible, bringing historic sites and artefacts closer to visitors and younger generations.

Digital platforms are bringing Hanoi’s cultural heritage to wider audiences, allowing people to explore the capital’s traditions beyond the boundaries of physical sites.

Visitors can now explore Huu Van Communal House in Hanoi virtually through 360-degree technology, without physically entering the site. From hundreds of kilometres away, these visitors can explore the site with just a few clicks.

Hoang Anh Duong, a visitor from Bac Ninh City, said: I can explore the entire site and hear realistic sounds that help me understand it better. It makes me want to visit in person.

Phung Xuan Kim, head of ceremonial affairs at Huu Van Communal House in Hanoi, said: "Digitalisation makes it easier for young people to engage in spiritual and experiential tourism."

Meanwhile, at this school, students can explore a museum without leaving their classroom. Using augmented reality and 3D-scanned artefacts, they can navigate virtual spaces and examine exhibits from every angle in vivid detail.

Le Anh Khoi, a student at Chu Van An Primary and Secondary School in Hanoi, said: "I saw an old telephone people used to communicate with. There was music and narration too. It was really exciting and interesting.

Le Thanh Hoa, a teacher at Chu Van An Primary and Secondary School in Hanoi said: "Students become more engaged in lessons, helping them develop a love for our traditional cultural values."

Each digitised heritage site becomes a virtual destination and an interactive learning space. Beyond preservation, digital data also provides resources for creating new cultural products.

Nguyen Manh Tien, director of the VNPT Technology and Solutions Centre (VNPT TSC), said: "We develop digital learning materials and virtual tours for residents and visitors. We also use AI and the Internet of Things to support heritage conservation."

Digital technology and new policies are opening up fresh opportunities for Hanoi's cultural heritage. Centuries-old traditions are finding new forms of expression and connecting with younger generations.
