Chairman Chung made the suggestion at a reception in Hanoi on February 20 for Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa.
He pledged that Hanoi city authorities are willing to coordinate and support Malaysia to host cultural events at the pedestrian zone around Hoan Kiem Lake.
He expressed his hope to receive support and coordination from the Malaysian Ambassador and embassy to help Hanoi successfully host the Meeting of Governors/Mayors of ASEAN Capitals (MGMAC), which will have the participation of leaders of Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
The city’s authorities will create favourable conditions and remove obstacles for Malaysian businesses who wish to invest and do business in Hanoi, he said.
He suggested that Vietnam and Malaysia will step up trade promotion activities as well as cooperation in education and tourism, in order to attract more investment from Malaysian businesses into Hanoi.
The Hanoi city’s leader also voiced his hope that during his tenure, the ambassador will work to lift Vietnam – Malaysia to new heights while serving as a bridge linking Hanoi and Kuala Lumpur as well as other localities of Malaysia.
For his part, Ambassador Dato’ Shariffah Norhana Syed Mustaffa rejoiced at the growing development of Vietnam – Malaysia relations, affirming to make further contributions to fostering the bilateral ties as well as the bond between Hanoi and Malaysia’s localities.
He also took the occasion to express his thanks for the support of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee to Malaysian businesses who are operating in Vietnam and Hanoi in particular, emphasising that the businesses hope to work in Vietnam for the long term.
