VTV.vn - 231 years ago, on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the Tay Son army under the leadership of Quang Trung Emperor marched to Northern Vietnam, defeated 29,000 invading Qing dynasty soldiers, and reunited the country.

A ceremony was held Wednesday morning in Hanoi to commemorate this victorious battle, considered one of the greatest successes in Vietnam's history of combating invasions.

It also ended the two-decade long war between the Trịnh and Nguyễn lords. The Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da battle secured Quang Trung Emperor's important place in history, making him the symbol of Vietnamese intelligence, military arts, patriotism, and resilience.
