The Party chief made the remark at a working session with the key leaders of the northern port city on November 15.
He praised the municipal Party Committee and its Standing Board for their innovations in leading and directing the realisation of the resolutions and conclusions adopted by the Party Central Committee and the municipal Party organisation, in the direction of strengthening encouragement and inspection, whilst ensuring the principles of concentrated democracy, solidarity and high consensus.
General Secretary Trong agreed with the municipal Party Committee’s report on the city’s significant socio-economic achievements over the past few years, noting that Hai Phong possesses numerous advantages for development as a port city with an extremely important role in the northern region.
He expressed his delight at the achievements that Hai Phong has obtained, especially in developing its infrastructure, building new-style rural areas, shifting the economic structure, improving the people’s living conditions and implementing the guidelines and resolutions of the Party and the city.
He suggested that the city regularly reviews its master development plans in order to make the necessary adjustments and supplements, whilst focusing its resources on completing each specific task instead of over-diversifying its portfolio.
The Party leader urged Hai Phong to be drastic and steadfast in its anti-corruption efforts, to develop a good relationship with the people, renovate the growth model and accelerate its efforts to attract investment.
At the working session, several ideas put forward recommended that Hai Phong harmonise its socio-economic and cultural development with the protection of the ecological environment, whilst investing more in developing infrastructure, especially transport infrastructure, aiming to create favourable conditions for more breakthroughs in the time ahead.
