At the beginning of 2026, the Vietnam Television Film Center (VFC) demonstrated its continued creativity and momentum by launching multiple new projects simultaneously. Right from the early days of the Lunar New Year, film sets have come to life again, with production crews back in full swing, ushering in a promising new season filled with fresh ideas and creative breakthroughs.
Kicking off the year is Buoc Chan Vao Doi (Stepping Into Life), directed by Meritorious Artist Nguyen Danh Dung. It airs at 8:00 PM from Monday to Wednesday on VTV3 starting February 23. The series follows the emotional coming-of-age journey of three orphaned siblings as they navigate life’s hardships, love, ambition, and challenges. Despite setbacks and pain, they never let go of each other. More than a story of survival, the film highlights growth, awakening, and resilience, delivering a positive message about family as a source of strength.
“Buoc Chan Vao Doi” airs at 8:00 PM every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday on VTV3.
Meanwhile, in the 9:00 PM slot on VTV1, the light and heartwarming series Nguoc Duong Nguoc Nang (Against the Sun), directed by Vu Minh Tri, is expected to premiere at the end of March.
“Nguoc Duong Nguoc Nang” is scheduled to air at 9:00 PM from Monday to Friday on VTV1.
A notable trend in 2026 is the rise of high-quality miniseries, airing at 8:00 PM every Thursday and Friday on VTV3. Opening this lineup is the fantasy-themed Dong Ho Dem Nguoc (Countdown Clock), which premiered on January 29, 2026. After more than a month on air, the series has received positive feedback for its innovative storytelling, unique characters, and strong emotional engagement.
Next, audiences will be introduced to a fresh theme with Loi Hua Dau Tien (The First Promise), directed by Nguyen Duc Hieu. The series explores the world of beauty and showbiz, combining glamorous urban settings with the rustic landscapes of Vietnam’s Northwest region. Beyond the spotlight, the series reveals hidden aspects of fame.
“Loi Hua Dau Tien” is expected to premiere after “Dong Ho Dem Nguoc” concludes.
Also part of the miniseries lineup is Lua Trang (White Fire), directed by Bui Quoc Viet. This series delves into the underground world of drug trafficking, and portrays it as a sophisticated global network. Rather than focusing solely on action, the film emphasizes psychological conflict, depicting an undercover female officer forced to make great sacrifices, and a cold and ruthless drug lord. In close collaboration with Vietnam’s Anti-Drug Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, the production promises authentic investigations, intense scenarios, and cinematic-scale scenes.
“Lua Trang” belongs to the miniseries format.
With diverse themes, increasingly modern storytelling techniques, and strong investment in both the scripts and productions, VTV’s 2026 drama lineup promises to deliver fresh and engaging content. Beyond entertainment, prime-time television dramas continue to reflect real life and resonate deeply with audiences.
