Since February 20, Lao Cai province has been allowing drivers and staff of delivery vehicles that deliver goods to Hekou (China) to return to Lao Cai without being quarantined for 14 days on the condition that they must return within the day and wear protective gear for COVID-19 prevention. This has accelerated the trading of goods through the Kim Thanh border gate.
After more than half a month since resuming customs clearance activities, the value of the trade turnover of the Kim Thanh border gate of Lao Cai has reached over 32.2 million dollars. On average, over 3,000 tons of agro products are cleared through this border gate every day.
It's been forecast that the volume of trade through the Kim Thanh border gate will increase dramatically so the local authorities have come up with a plan to reduce the congestion of vehicles and goods through the border gates to ensure epidemic prevention and trade activities.
