VTV.vn - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Argentina, Jorge Kreyness has emphasized that the negotiation and signing of the Geneva Agreement is not only an important milestone and victory in the national liberation struggle of Vietnamese people but also an example for other countries to follow.

Talking to Vietnam News Agency reporters on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Agreement, Kreyness said the correct revolutionary path of the Communist Party of Vietnam under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh are among decisive factors behind the success of the Geneva Conference and the Dien Bien Phu Victory earlier.

Kreyness highlighted that the 1954 Geneva Conference marked the first time Vietnamese diplomacy stepped onto the international stage and demonstrated the victory of the revolutionary forces of the three Indochina countries – Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, which led to the complete dissolution of the French colonial system.

Globally, the Geneva Agreement carries righteous power that encourages countries in the world in their revolutionary struggle for national liberation. Along with the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the conference’s achievements were recognised by the international community. Even after 70 years, they are still mentioned as a factor paving the way for decolonisation on the global scale.

According to the leader of the PCA, the Geneva Conference is an epochal lesson on resolving international disagreements and conflicts by peaceful means, especially in the current world context where many complicated conflicts are taking place. Many countries around the world have learned lessons about international conduct through this event, which is the need to move towards a democratic and multipolar world, where international norms are respected, not a world order unequally imposed by powerful countries.
