The meeting was directed by Politburo member and Defence Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich and saw the presence of former Politburo member and Defence Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh.
At the meeting, General Ngo Xuan Lich updated delegates of the current situation in the country, region and world; the conspiracies and tricks of hostile forces; the results of Party congresses at all levels in the army; and outstanding achievements in military and defense work during the 2015-2020 period.
In addition, the Defence Minister stressed the importance of the current missions and operation of the army in the near future and how vital it is they successfully fulfill all assigned tasks.
He noted that 2020 was the last year of the 2015-2020 tenure of the Party Congress at all levels, with various outstanding achievements in the context of many difficulties and challenges for Vietnam and the world.
The Central Military Commision and Defence Ministry always respect and appreciate the valuable ideas and experiences of high-ranking military officers across the generations, added General Lich.
He expressed his hope that former officers will continue to make great contributions to the Party’s revolutionary cause and development of Vietnamese People’s Army.
