VTV.vn - Guimet Museum in the French capital of Paris has one of the biggest Asian Art displays in Europe with over 50,000 artefacts, including Vietnamese objects.

The museum also organises events to promote Vietnamese culture in France. These programmes were reviewed at the Vietnamese Cultural Presence in Paris event held on Wednesday in Hanoi.

Guimet Museum has received huge numbers of visitors when staging historical cai luong or reformed Vietnamese theatre. Since 2000, the French Vietnamese artistic director of the museum and artist Huong Thanh has organised shows like this. Museum-goers have learned about traditional Vietnamese arts like cai luong or northern traditional art through these shows.

Artist Huong Thanh, French Vietnamese said: "Most French people know about the Vietnamese shows. The museum did a wonderful job in organising shows, and the media talked about them a lot. Audiences also love them. The two-night show featuring Vietnamese music was almost entirely sold out. Vietnamese music has received a positive response in France thanks to the museum."

Hubert Laot, Artistic Director, Guimet Museum, France said: "There are many Vietnamese exhibits at the museum, especially highlighting Champa Culture. We also showcase some famous Vietnamese statues like a one-thousand hand bodhisattva. The statue looks like it came from Tibet but it was actually made in Vietnam in the 18th or 19th century."

The museum also screens Vietnamese movies besides showcasing Vietnamese exhibits. The museum, which was founded in 1889, still attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, contributing to promoting Vietnamese art to the world.
