Fourth Vietnam Rice Festival opens
VTV.vn - The Vietnam Farmer’s Union, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the provincial People’s Committee co-organised a ceremony to open the fourth Vietnam Rice Festival – Vinh Long 2019, in Vinh Long City, on December 13.

At the ceremony, the organizing board honoured 105 outstanding organisations and individuals for their significant contributions to the development of collectives in Vietnam over the past two years.

Addressing the event, permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers Association Luong Quoc Doan affirmed that the Festival is a big and important event of the Mekong Delta.

The festival aims to support trade promotion, being an opportunity for businesses, cooperatives and individuals in production and business to exchange information on brand promotion and product consumption; to connect supply and demand of consumption markets; and to promote links, joint ventures, and apply new science and technology in production, processing and trade of services, thus improving farmers' incomes.

The festival aims to open up great opportunities for Vietnamese rice industry units and businesses to strengthen their cooperation, research and search for strategic solutions to ensure the leading role of the rice industry in the sustainable development of the agricultural economy, ensuring national food security, contributing to enhancing the position and stable development of Vietnam's rice brand in domestic and foreign markets.

Being held from December 13 to 19, the event features a series of uninterrupted activities, including an exhibition fair with a scale of over 850 booths and the participation of 665 units, organisations, businesses and cooperatives.

In addition, a photo contest, art performances, and four workshops discussing legal frameworks and policies targeting agricultural cooperatives, support for rice growers, procession of rice products, and rural economy development, will also be organised.
