Formosa addresses waste discharge issues

The firm has constructed and upgraded its wastewater treatment system to adhere to environmental protection standards. Basic construction progress of these components is ahead of schedule.

Earlier this year, Formosa was held responsible for an environmental incident that caused mass fish deaths in four central provinces.

Authorities say it's now safe to swim in the four provinces affected by the disaster, but the integrity of seafood caught within 20 nautical miles (37 kilometres) off the coast remains unclear.
