The information was announced at a conference in Hanoi yesterday, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The event aims to review two years of efforts to restructure the forestry sector nationwide. According to Vietnam Administration of Forestry’s report at the seminar, re-forestation has been actively implemented nationwide at an annual average of 200,000 hectares, of which 90% are production forests. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development urged all localities to support farmers in intensive afforestation and extend planting cycles to a longer term of 10-15 years.
