VTV.vn - On February 28, the High Command of the Vietnam People's Navy hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony for two Kilo-class submarines.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended the flag-hoisting ceremony for two Kilo-class submarines, the HQ -186 Danang and the HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau at Cam Ranh Military Base in Khanh Hoa Province.

The HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau arrived at Cam Ranh Port on February 20 after a more than 41-day journey from Russia to Vietnam. The Vietnam People's Navy received five submarines in 2016.

The HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau is the sixth and last diesel-powered 636 Kilo-class submarine that Vietnam purchased from Russia.

The event marks a historical milestone for the Vietnam People's Navy in their efforts to modernise and enhance the capacity of its navy forces to defend the country's territorial waters.
