Fishermen set sail for last catches

VTV.vn - Over the past few days, fishermen in Phu Yen and Binh Dinh provinces have set sail for the last catches of the year.

Binh Dinh's fishing ports are packed with fishermen and vessels. The drop in oil prices coupled with an increase in fish prices have made them optimistic about these catches. These trips will take 15-20 days. They will come back one week before the Tet holiday to bring their catches to the markets. Binh Dinh province now has over 1,160 ocean tuna fishing vessels. 200 of these have set sail. The rest are getting ready for upcoming trips. Fishermen in the province caught 8,900 tonnes of ocean tuna in 2015. This is an increase of 250 tonnes compared to 2014, a significant result in the context of year-on-year declining tuna output.
