VTV.vn - A shrimp breeding farm owned by Viet-Uc Seafood Corporation in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu has become the first one in Vietnam to fulfill criteria set by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).

At the ceremony to announce Vietnam's first OIE-standard shrimp farm, held in Bac Lieu city on November 25, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Phan Xuan Dung said that the accreditation will create a huge opportunity for Vietnamese shrimp to enter demanding markets around the world, helping to realize the country's goal of 10 billion USD in export turnover by 2025.

Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, highlighted the event as a turning point and achievement for the company as well as Vietnam's shrimp sector at large. He said that it will open up a sustainable development path for Vietnam's shrimp production and export in the future.
