Crowds began filling the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake hours before the show, finding vantage points and soaking up the festive atmosphere.
Nguyen Thi Lo travelled from Thanh Hoa that morning and arrived at the lake with her family at 6 p.m. to enjoy the festive atmosphere in the capital.
Nguyen Thi Lo said: "Every year around 10 October, I like coming to Hanoi to spend time with my children, take photos and enjoy the atmosphere. It is always so lively, and I really love Hanoi."
Ngo Thinh Duc, a resident of Ha Dong Ward, Hanoi, said: "Special occasions in Hanoi always bring a lot of emotion. I enjoy seeing how the city changes over time and watching people come together for the fireworks."
At 9 p.m., fireworks lit up the sky above Hoan Kiem Lake, with bursts of colour unfolding one after another over the heart of the capital. For a moment, thousands of eyes turned skyward, sharing in the city’s anniversary celebrations.
Tran Thi Phuong, from Ninh Binh Province, said: "It was wonderful. Everyone was really satisfied to see a fireworks display."
Bui Thi Cam Tu, from Bac Ninh City, said: "I was very excited and really happy to be here. Seeing everyone watching the fireworks together makes me feel how connected people are, united by their love for the country."
For one night, the fireworks did more than illuminate the capital; they brought residents and visitors together through their shared love for Hanoi, a city shaped by history yet constantly moving forward.
