This is the fifth year the competition has been held with the participation of 46 companies and units, from seven coffee-growing provinces of Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Son La, and Quang Tri.
The organising board selected 46 speciality coffee samples out of 82 samples to compete in the final round, including 26 Robusta coffee samples and 20 samples of Arabica coffee.
Through the preliminary round, 71 coffee samples scoring 80 points or higher were qualified for certification of speciality coffee. In the final round, the jury will select the top 10 speciality coffee samples from Vietnam.
Chairman of the Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Association Trinh Duc Minh, head of the competition’s organising board said the final round will take place from April 25-28, 2023. Besides, there are activities to display speciality coffee as well as tools, equipment, machines, books and supplies for the coffee industry, coffee-making demonstrations, and others.
In particular, after the competition, the organisers will auction the best batch of speciality coffee, to meet the consumption demand and enhance the added value of Vietnamese speciality coffee, Minh noted.
