He's designed ao dai for different Vietnamese beauty competitions. He wants to help foreign visitors and the youth understand more about the value and beauty of ao dai through his collection.
Nhat Dung's collection, "Voice from paradise", has been showcased in many countries. Features of Vietnam's well-known Phong Nha Cave are embedded in the ao dai. Born and raised in Quang Binh where the cave is located, Nhat Dung wanted to promote its image to the world.
"I wanted to invoke my heritage through my collection. In 2003, Ao dai was recognised as a heritage that needed to be preserved. As a Vietnamese I'm trying to promote the beauty of our country", the fashion designer Nhat Dung said.
In addition to the "Voice from paradise" collection, some of the designs presented to the museum are from his other collections, including "Vietnamese Lotus" and "My country Vietnam." These designs will bring more color to the ao dai on display at the Southern Women's Museum.
"The designer donated his collection to us with the hope of being able to show future generations what ao dai from older times looked like", Nguyen Thi Tham - Director of Southern Women's Museum - said.
Nhat Dung's designs will be on display for the 60th anniversary of the museum.
