In Thanh Hoa village, of Trung Thanh commune, Pho Yen town in Thai Nguyen province, a ploughing ceremony was held in addition to the display of local agricultural products and ornamental creatures from traditional tea villages in Pho Yen town.
On February 7, local farmers in Thai Binh province also began to plough the fields as a means to boost agricultural production.
According to the Department of Agricultural and Rural Development of Thai Binh province, the province will cultivate 78,000 ha of rice in the spring-summer crop 2019, with an additional14,500ha of other crops including corn, peanuts, sweet potatoes, soybeans, and water melons, among others.
Farmers in Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa and other provinces also began work in the fields on the first days of Tet to expect a good harvest this year.
It is scheduled that Northern provinces will simultaneously begin to grow rice on a total area of approximately 1.1 million ha on February 10.
