Ho Chi Minh City is the first to establish the court in the country.
The ceremony was chaired by Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh, and was attended by the Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan and Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Long.
The establishment of the Family and Juvenile Court is part of efforts to reform justice for children, which aims to allow children, their families and experts to participate more fully in the litigation process through more children-friendly, gender-sensitive legal procedures and specially-trained judges.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Le Hong Quang stressed that the Family and Juvenile Court is an institution designed to specialize in dealing with matters related to families and adolescents,
He said the court will be a central component of the national system for children protection, and play a very important role in connecting judicial and social welfare agencies for the prevention and response to risks in the field of child protection and juvenile crimes.
