The non-subsidised bus service will only have eight stops coinciding with those for normal bus services, with Hanoi Railway Station and Noi Bai Airport as its two termini.
The express bus has a modern design with a capacity of handling 60-80 passengers, offering a wide-enough distance between seats to satisfy passengers’ need for bringing luggage to the airport, and designated seats for children, pregnant women and seniors.
Those on board the bus will also have free access to wireless Internet.
The express bus service is scheduled to operate 80-94 trips per day, with each trip lasting 50-55 minutes and costing about VND30,000 (US$1.35) per passenger.
Working hours for the service will be from 5.10am to 10.30pm at Hanoi Railway Station and from 6.30am to 11.30pm at Noi Bai Airport.
In addition, Transerco also proposed two types of frequencies for the express bus service - one every 30 minutes and one every 20-25 minutes - depending on the daily landing schedule of flights at Noi Bai Airport’s Terminal 1 and 2, as well as passenger demand for travel to the inner city.
According to Transerco Deputy Director Nguyen Hoang Trung, the express bus service has a number of advantages, including reduced traveling time, avoiding streets of high vehicle density and room for luggage.
At present, there are just two bus services - no. 07 and no. 17 - linking inner Hanoi with Noi Bai, both of which mainly serve those who are living and working near the airport.
