Export of dragon fruit by sea to be promoted
VTV.vn - Lang Son and Quang Ninh, two provinces with border gates to China, have advised truck drivers against bringing goods to the border from now until the Lunar New Year.

The congestion of goods at the border gates due to bottlenecks in goods' clearance has caused many difficulties for the export of agricultural products, especially dragon fruit - an item with an export turnover of nearly 1 billion USD in 2021.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, a key solution for this issue is to promote exports by sea, by connecting with logistics units at Cat Lai port to solve the container shortage. Last year, Vietnam exported nearly 1.7 million tons of dragon fruit to China. Exports by sea accounted for only 30% of the total.

From now until Tet, about 300 thousand tons of dragon fruit in Binh Thuan, Tien Giang, and Long An provinces need to be consumed.

The price of dragon fruit has decreased by three-fourths compared to previously and is currently sold at roughly 25 cents/kg.
