Currently, people in a number of coastal provinces are experiencing a shortage of clean water for their daily activities. At present, many localities have been focusing on expanding the rural water supply system. Hundreds of water processing plants are being built in the coastal areas to satisfy the lack of water during the dry season.
In the past 3 years, the coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta have implemented a number of solutions to supply clean water to people. As a result, the percentage of households that get access to clean water in rural areas has improved, with Soc Trang by 56%, Bac Lieu by 54%, and Ca Mau by 44%. The current priority is to use surface water from the Tien and the Hau rivers.
