VTV.vn - On May 24, a photo exhibition introducing Hai Phong's architectural heritage, entitled ‘The Architectural Heritage of Today - A Wealth for Tomorrow', opens at Lam Son Park, Ho Chi Minh City.

The event was co-organised by the Hai Phong City Department of Culture and Sports and the France-Vietnam Academy of Architecture, on the occasion of the 51st founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and 11 years of strategic partnership between Vietnam and France.

With 65 sets of photos (more than 500 photos), the photo exhibition aims to provide more information and documents for domestic and international friends to gain a better understanding of Hai Phong’s planning through the ages; public spaces; the preservation of architectural works of typical value in Hai Phong, especially French-styled architectural works in the core urban area of ​​the city centre; Thereby, finding the optimal solution for the preservation and sustainable development of Hai Phong urban area.

Hai Phong City is also known by many names associated with geographical characteristics such as port city, estuary city and "City of May".

Through many ups and downs of history, Hai Phong has several works bearing the mark of French-style architecture full of sophistication, romance and emotion.

With more than 300 villa projects, more than 100 architectural works in the centre of Hai Phong City remain almost intact, preserving and promoting their use value.

These are typical works that reflect the interference of French and Vietnamese cultures in Hai Phong.

After more than 100 years, these works are still in use and have become a valuable cultural and highly aesthetic heritage, creating a unique and unmistakable appearance; and contributing to creating an urban appearance of Hai Phong that is both ancient and modern.

The exhibition runs until May 29.
