VTV.vn - An exhibition entitled ‘Aspiration for Peace’ opened at Hanoi Museum on December 27 to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘Hanoi – Dien Bien Phu in the Air’ victory (1972-2022).

The exhibition introduces more than 300 photos, documents and artefacts recalling the 12 days and nights of Hanoi's army and people struggling fiercely to defend the capital city against US airstrikes in late 1972.

The works on display have been arranged into three major areas. The first space, named ‘Silence’, showcases photos and documents about the urgent atmosphere when Hanoians prepared to evacuate from the capital while others dug tunnels and trenches and built artillery battlefields to protect Hanoi.

The second space is set up under the theme ‘Facing off’, depicting the fierce battle between the Hanoi army and people and the US air force from December 18 to 29, 1972, as well as the joy of Hanoians after successfully defending Hanoi’s airspace.

Meanwhile, the last space, named ‘Peace’, focuses on portraying Hanoi’s recovery after the war and life in the capital today.
