Village" was written by Truc Dong, a young Gen Z musician (born in 1999). Although born and raised in the South, Truc Dong has shown his love for traditional culture and has composed with folk sounds from the North, Central and South, showing exploration, creativity and in-depth learning.
The song "Village" also has a distinctly northern folk melody. With its fast tempo and the sounds of zither and moon lute, the original version sung by the author and Le Xuan Khoa transports listeners to a lively and exhilarating festival setting. Since its release on November 23, 2023, Heritage Day, "Village" has garnered widespread acclaim.
Producer Vu Do Quang Minh created a very different, more profound version of "Village", still sung by Le Xuan Khoa, for the Exclusive Duo program. It conveys the mood of a son returning to the village with conflicting feelings and emotions about a homeland associated with many childhood memories that change daily.
The arrangement is done in a minimalist direction, with the strings creating a wide, melodic space, and the pipa almost like a second voice, harmonizing with the singer with very rustic sounds. The arrangement also brings out the best in Le Xuan Khoa's voice, which is rustic, lyrical and expressive.
