The plant will see an investment of VND91 billion(US$3.9 million) and boast a capacity of 3.754 MWp. The power project covers an area of over 43,500m2 in the DatDoc beach area.
The plant will provide electricity for the locality using solar power in a bid to replace the current diesel generator system and protect the environment.
The plant is also expected to provide a stable source of power for daily needs, services and products on the island while creating a driving force for the development of light industries, support industries, the sea-based economy, and seaside tourism activities.
The project is scheduled for completion in December this year.
Previously, a solar power plant with a capacity of 36 kWp funded by the Spanish Government was put into operation in Con Dao in 2014.
