With the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement being signed on June 30th, various chances to approach the EU market will be opened up for not only Vietnam's major exports but also agro-products with latent potential.
In the first year after the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement takes effect, more than 74% of the EU's taxes on Vietnamese agro-products will be eliminated. After 10 years, the figure will increase to 97%. However, eliminated taxes are also accompanied by increasing technical barriers. If Vietnam's agriculture sector cannot create progress, it will miss those opportunities and even lose its foothold in the domestic market.
