The place where the grey-shanked douc langurs were spotted is Hòn Dồ. The surrounding areas have been turned into plantations which is why these douc langurs have been pushed into a small area and are now scared of humans.
As reported, this group has 20 - 30 doucs and often appears from 6 am to 8 am. According to rangers, the grey-shanked douc langur is on the list of endangered species that need urgent preservation.
In addition to being hunted, this kind of primate also faces lack of food and living environment due to deforestation. According to Fauna and Flora International, Vietnam has about 1,000 doucs that are living in the Central Region and Central Highlands.
